Bulova introduced the worlds first tuning fork movement timepiece to the public in October of 1960.The watch that "hummms" rather than "ticking" was something entirely new and an overwhelming success. Bulova produced the Accutron line of watches from 1960 until 1977. Nearly "ALL" Accutron railroad approved models were the 214 "back set" models. Even those are scarce today. However, comparatively, the 218 railroad approved models had VERY small production runs. This particular Accutron has a high polished 14 Karat Yellow Gold Filled case with a screw-down water resistant case back, It measures 33.70mm wide by 39.60mm lug to lug. It is powered by the original jeweled 218 caliber tuning fork movement. The original Accutron dial is in MINT condition featuring a matte white enameled non-reflective background with bold black enameled 1-12 hour markers, red enameled 24 hour Canadian Railway or Military numbers and black enameled outer minute track with black enameled railroad spade pointer hands. We installed a New Old Stock (never worn) padded & stitched textured leather strap, CIRCA: 1972 Condition: 86-90%Excellent overall cosmetic & mechanical condition, Just Serviced, Running & keeping time! Before posting this item we did an Internet & eBay search for comparable condition all original, serviced and warranted comparable Accutron 218 Railroad Approved Accutron watches. We found several in horrible, to "average" condition in the $295-$425 price range. We could only find 4 that were anywhere close to the condition as ours with full warranty.
