Very dark brown, almost black exterior with gold designs and lettering. The pages area is hand painted inantique gold. The velvet interior is reddish-brown.In very good older used condition with signs of wear on the interior velvet lining. The faux leather is peeling away a bit from the wood in two areas on the pages side of the box (last two photos). The wood may bevery slightly warped and has a gap on the closure (seventh photo).
