Vintage+NIB: Original Ritepoint Liter Lighter w/ Inserts + Pouch 1949 St. Louis

Description: This listing is for a rare, vintage, authentic Ritepoint Liter, the original branded yellow carry pouch, two marketing inserts (one noting how to saturate the wick and the other is a how to use guide) and the original box (complete with vintage cotton). The Ritepoint Liter is marketed as “The Lighter with Visible Fuel Supply.” The lighter itself is clear red plastic on the lower half and has a black top on the body. There is no fluid in the lighter body. The hood of the lighter is a silver toned metal. The spark wheel and lighter components are hidden beneath the hood. The lighter has never fired. The wick is unused. See photo.The original box has a silver toned lid and a black bottom. The cover of the box reads, “Ritepoint Liter. The Lighter with Visible Fuel Supply. ‘Signals the eye before it’s dry.’ St. Louis, U.S.A.” The cover of the box has wear and the silver is brushed off. See photo. The inside of the box has a piece of paper affixed which reads, “’Contents Notice.’ Approved for mailing by U. S. Pat Office Department, July 8, 1948. Ritepoint Liter. The Lighter with Visible Fuel Supply. Inflammable. Contains Ritepoint Liter Fluid. Less than 4 ounces. For us in mailing 12 liter or less. CGL-319.” The vintage cotton also is included to keep the items secure. The original yellow pouch to protect the lighter is included. It reads, “Ritepoint Liter” on the front in burgundy color. There are two marketing inserts. One is on white paper with red type and includes instructions to supply the fuel and directions to read the enclosed manual. That manual also is included here. This 10-page item notes patent pending No. D-154,945 and a letter from Sylvester Lipic, President. Lots of great photos and how-to-dos included in this manual. It is pristine! See photos. It is interesting and notable that Ritepoint – a pencil and pen manufacturer – forayed into the lighter market. The lighter measures 2 1/4” tall by 1 3/8” wide by 1/2” deep.
