Monroe Company using Opal Ware Glass crafted by the Mount Washington Glass Company in New Bedford, MassachusettsThe C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden, Connecticut was founded in 1880 and closed in 1916. The name Wave Crest was used after 1898. The glass dresser box is in the Helmschmied Swirl pattern, named for C. F. Monroe decorator Carl V. Helmschmied, with decorative gilt ormulo fittings and marked in black on the base with “Wave Crest”. The interior silk lining on the lid is in shreds and the lower base lining is missing.The dresser box measures 4” in diameter and 3 5/8” in height. The Wave Crest dresser box is presented in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs.
