Description: Whitcher Patent 1887 Cobblers Lasting Pliers. Measuring 8 11/16" long, the jaws are 2 5/16" wide at the tips, and this weighs 14 3/4 oz unboxed. Frank W. Whitcher of Boston, MA was granted Pat. No. 372,246 on Oct. 25, 1887 for the design of this tool. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall light patina. The jaws have a little wear to the teeth, but nothing too bad and they do close down tight and flush. The "through the center" joint has just a wee bit of wiggle. The tack claws at the end of the one handle are gone. Stuff happens. This ain't minty, but seeing as how it's between 117 and 137 years old, well it sure ain't bad either. A working and collectible old leather tool for sure! All items for sale unless otherwise noted are purchased and in most cases professionally restored by me. I take pride in offering quality items. Not everything is perfect, but it is as I say it is. Also, I smoke a pipe, drink whiskey, both cheap and good, and cuss more in a hour than most folks do in a month. If any or all of the above bother's ya, well then we ain't got no reason to be doing business. RULES OF THE GAME 2023 EDITION - READ ME! NO BEST OFFERS I am happy to combine shipping on purchases. The best way is to do this from a PC. Just hit the Buy-It-Now and then request a combined invoice. If you are on a phone or tablet using the eBay app, it doesn't allow you to do this.
