Description: A lot of seventeen specimens from the former White Pine copper mine in Ontonagon county, Michigan, and one from an unidentified location.The White Pine mine closed in 1995 after producing 4 billion 200 million pounds of copper and almost 50 million ounces of silver.The first picture shows calcite crystals, the second some copper, conglomerate, shale, etc., and the third is small pieces of calcite mixed with shale.Several pieces have iron oxide stains from being in contact with the bottom of a tin can.The lot weighs about 2 pounds.My book on White Pine Copper is available here in my ebay store.Specimens shown next to a half dollar for size comparison, see pictures Shipped priority mail.
