Description: A very nice pairing of World War Two British Army Airborne Forces combat-worn single maroon/claret & blue 'Airborne Strip' for the 2-pocket battle-blouse, together with a matching single Lance Corporals' Chevron/Stripe 1942-44 A single heavily embroidered 'straight' Airborne patch with pale blue lettering on a maroon backing, it measures approx 4" x 0.75" and is in a good issued & combat-worn condition. Worn on active service only from October 1942 to November 1944 to differentiate British Army Airborne personnel from Parachute Troops it was worn on the battle-blouse upper arm until withdrawn at the end of 1944. The matching Lance-Corporal's rank chevron is also in a good combat-worn condition, though showing several moth bites, as can be seen in the images. A cracking pair of original WW-II British Airborne insignia pieces that, with several of our other Airborne-related offerings, have been in the same West Country house-hold close by a combined 1943-45 US 82nd and 101st Airborne and British Airborne & Paratrooper Training base (and traded to the farmer next door in exchange for fresh milk, cheese & eggs etc) that was established in the build-up to D-Day June 6th 1944 and the later famous jumps at Arnhem in Holland Please note: The 1944 Arnhem-era para helmet shown in the first image is for display purposes only and not for sale in this lot..!
