THE POPULAR FRONT The two sides in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) were those fighting for the Republic which included Communists, Socialists, Labor Groups and the International Brigade, all backed by Russia, and the Fascists or Falangists, backed by Nazi Germany. These posters were issued by the former or affiliated groups known as the Popular Front. The first poster shows a soldier in uniform with upraised fist flanked by red star with hammer and sickle. The second poster shows a soldier and peasant with upraised fists before the hammer and sickle on a red background. The third poster shows a soldier firing a pistol, flanked by a red star with hammer and sickle. The inscription is a Spanish version of "one for all, all for one" The fourth poster (FREE if you buy the other 3) may vary from design shown but will have been issued by one of the Popular Front and thus anti-Fascist parties. The posters are approx. 8 1/4" x 11 5/8" and are printed on the back of ration sheets from different towns with coupons redeemable for rice and/or corn and/or beans and/or sugar and/or other scarce wartime commodities.
