I believe that to be Thomas Mellon Evans of McKeesport, Pa., who died at age 38 and was a prominent financier related to the Mellon family. Ribbed covers are splotchy; gilding on cover is intact, but spine is faded almost completely. Binding is intact but feels loose, like it could give way if handled roughly. An incredible time capsule.
